I am realizing now that we are home the hospital was the easy part. I feel myself being the nervous mom staring at Gabby wondering if she is breathing. I am not sure how I am ever going to sleep again. Jason is the calm one so far. I am allowing myself to be nervous today as it is all so new. When we were at the hospital we let the nursery keep her at night and just bring her to us to feed. Now, I just need to get used to her little noises and moves to know what is normal for her.
My breast milk is fully in. It came in Saturday night/Sunday morning. She is still feeding really well. The pediatrician had me move the feedings up to every two hours instead of three as Gabby is still loosing weight. She is now down to 5 pounds 6 ounces. Which is nine point five percent of her body weight. They start to worry if she looses ten percent of her body weight. She has not complained for one moment about eating more often. She is still eating up a storm. The doctor also said he wanted to keep an eye on her right hip still. He thought they may try to schedule an ultrasound by at least month four and then go from there. I am glad that they are proactive if it is anything we need to worry about.
With my milk being in now it managed to give Gabby and upset tummy Sunday night. She was fussy for the first time with three poops in an hour. The nursery nurse said this is normal as she is adjusting to the milk from the colostrum. Grandma and Jason have been doing their fair share of diaper changing and rocking to keep the peace. I am doing my fare share of pacing and starring at her. Ha. Gabby had the hiccups all the time when she was in my belly. Starting yesterday we noticed her having them. The nursery nurse told us that feeding would help take them away. And it really did. She has has them about three times since we have been home. She sounds like a squeak toy. It is kind of funny. We have been introducing the pacifier to help her stay calm when we change her diaper or when she has the hiccups. Her legs go crazy when we change the diaper making it really hard for dad to get the diaper to fasten and or stay on. Jason has officially been peed on as of this morning.
Attached are her most recent photos. She is changing so much it is amazing.
All our love,
Julie, Jason, Gabby and Grandma
