Gabby 1 Week

Gabby has not allowed us to sleep much since we have been home. She was up all Monday night being fussy. She was up for the second night in a row with an upset tummy. So we thought. She is just very regular in the number two department. She fed really well all day on Tuesday and was a happy camper all day. She, grandma Ann and I took a trip to Target. They stayed in the car while I broke free for a minute. We got some preemie diapers. Which fit so much better. The newborn diapers seem to be so big on her still. Jason took a nice four hour nap Tuesday. He was suppose to work Wednesday and was too tired to go in as we didn't get much sleep that night either. Gabby seems to be awake from midnight to four.

We took Gabby to the doctor Wednesday. She in true fashion pooped when they tried to weigh her and then again ten minutes later when the doctor came in. He told us that is normal for her to be very active in that department. We were happy to find out she has gained six ounces back since Sunday. Guess those every two hour feedings are doing the trick. The doctor said since she has gained so well I can switch back to feeding every three hours. Thankfully. The every two hours were killing me as once you are done I only had about 45 minutes to an hour before she would start feeding again, which made sleeping impossible. I feel so refreshed today having an extra hour. I think I was wrapping Gabby up to tight and keeping her to flat on her back and this could be why she didn't sleep so well the other nights. She likes to have her head turned to the side and with my wrapping technique this wasn't really working for her. Jason put her to sleep twice on Wednesday and made sure her head was turned and she is out like a light. Way to go Jason for figuring this out. We have all been really tired.

The doctor also suggested feeding, keeping her awake if we can for a little bit then putting her down for her nap in her bassinet. Trying to keep this routine until night time and then just feeding and putting her back to sleep. This way we can start a pattern for her to recognize. He was really pleased with all her progress. Everything checked out just great. We are going to have an ultrasound of her hip and are just waiting to hear back from them as to when. He is very proactive which we like. We actually had a different pediatrician but have seen this doctor twice in the hospital and then Wednesday and we feel so comfortable with him so we are going to switch to him. They are all in the same practice so it works out just fine.

We got to show Gabby off a little bit yesterday. After her doctors appointment we stopped by to visit the chiropractor who was dying to meet her as well as the owner of the gym by our house. He told us he will babysit anytime cause he would like to use Gabby as a way to help him pick up the ladies. Too funny. It was fun to be able to show her off!

My friend Angela came over Wednesday and brought us a breast pump. That should be fun to start using. Oh my, I can't wait to feel like a cow being milked. Pat do you have any milking advice for me? Ha. (They own a dairy farm) Gabby has been very alert yesterday and today eyes open and legs kicking and arms a swinging.

Today Gabby is a week old. It is amazing how different she looks and how much she is filling out. Jason went to work today hoping he didn't look so much like the new dad. Yet, since Gabby was up again last night he looked like the new tired dad for sure. Grandma Ann and I had a low key day with Gabby. We gave her her first little sponge bath today. Surprisingly she enjoyed it. She cries more when we change her diaper. She slept well and ate well all day. She likes sleeping on her side we have discovered. She looks so peaceful when she sleeps. So not fare to the rest of us. She is still pooping up a storm. Guess it is better then the alternative. My friend Sara came to visit us today. Grandma Ann kept ture to form and was cooking up a storm all day. It is so wonderful having home cooked delicious meals! Grandma Sue is arrived tonight to meet Gabby. She will be here till Monday. She is bursting at the seems to meet her first grand baby!

Here are her latest and greatest photos.
