Gabby has meet some new friends this week. She met Toria, Valasco's daughter Friday. They slept peacefully next to eachother. She also met my client, Stephen's son, Jacob, yesterday. They too slept the whole time. So I am looking forward to future awake play dates. Watch out Mason, Jacob is trying to run some interfernce claiming Gabby. Gabby and I went to a baby shower for Nan's daughter in law on Saturday. Gabby enjoyed beinng held the whole time by everyone. Nan got to feed Gabby. She is the first person besides me or Jason to feed her. How fun. Gabby was trying to get Nan ready to be super grandma. They only have 11 more days till the baby arrives. Yesterday she hung out while CJ Leister played all around her. It was so cute he kept coming up to her saying, Gabby...baby and then pointing to all her parts. Nose, fingers, etc.

Gabby did great all weekend with her sleeping. She went four to five and a half hours between feedings at night. Which, I love. Jason is reading a book our neighbor gave us called, The Happiest Baby on the Block. Very interesting so far. So we are back to swadling Gabby. She appeared not to like it after two weeks but we gave it another shot and well who knew, she liked it. She does get some magic tricks from her dad and still can get those arms out. Too funny. It does seem to calm her though. Same old same old, she is still so gassy. Which makes her fussy. The swadling does seem to help with the gas. One of Jason's coworkers gave us a sling. We have been putting her in that so we can move about the house and get stuff done. She seems to really like the sling. She doesn't make a peep while she is in there. What a life, huh?!
Yesterday she not only tracked Enrique's finger but she also turned her head to follow his finger too. That was a first. She was full of smiles all weekend. Gas or not, it is so rewarding to see those big smiles! Awe, melts your heart. We are still doing tummy time but have not been as good as we should. She is also starting to grab onto things for short periods of time. She grabs onto my shirt while feeding. A lot of the time she will hold her pacifier in herself and if it falls out she will hold onto it as well. Now, if we could just get her to put it back in we would be set.

Gabby's First Valentine's Day

She only had three outfit changes! One from Melanie and two from Grandma Sue. She was a good sport but very tired after her modeling session. It is hard work, clearly!

Gabby after her bath. Calm just for a second. She was cold! She did enjoy her bath while she was in the water. We had Grandma Sue watch on the web cam the whole time. So fun. Angela our resident parenting pro was showing us how to get some of Gabby's gas out. Over the knee technique and the football carry. Both which Gabby loved. Gabby aslo broke Angela in and spit up on her and drooled on her. Sorry! Gabby sound asleep. No worries she still has ahold of the pacifier. She is not attached.

Six Weeks Hip Check

Gabby went to the Children's Hospital on Thursday and had an ultrasound on both hips. They were doing this to make sure there was not a chance of dislocation later on from her being breech. All was good!! We are so glad. She was great during the ultrasound. They put some sugar water on her pacifier and as a true Belknap she loved it! We also fed her a bottle during the ultrasound and she drank it to the last drop. Actually there wasn't even a drop left. Such a Winckler! She is our baby for sure.
Jason got to feed her his second bottle yesterday while I got out to go to a baby shower. They both did great. Gabby is still a gassy little girl. She is still fussy at night mostly. She has slept great the past two nights! She went five and a half hours between feedings last night. Whoo hoo. That allowed me some good sleep. The doctor doesn't want her to go any longer then five hours but I tell you if she is sleeping and it is the middle of the night who am I to disturb her beauty sleep? Ha.

Smiles

January 30th -February 2nd pictures

Our last supper with Grandma Ann! Mr. and Mrs. Wedekind and Gabby almost fitting into a newborn outfit! Cute..Cute..

5 Weeks 6 Days

We are finally adjusting after my mom left. It has been a week. I think the hardest thing was just knowing that I am home alone most of the time. It was sure nice to have her company and extra set of hands to help out. I did manage to get out daily with her all on my own. Sounds silly but it was the first time I had done that.
This past week she has been very gassy and fussy especially at night. The doctor said this is normal for her age. Of course. At night she lies in her bassinet and grunts and stretches and grunts and strecthes. Then we hear a loud break of wind and she seems to settle down a little. Or I am there just placing the pacifer back in her mouth time after time. She did give a great Julie burp this morning. I was talking to Jason on the phone and even he heard it. We have been using the Mylocan for gas but not sure that it is even helping.
This past weekend she noticed for the first time the little toys that are hanging from her car seat. Her eyes were so big as she stared intently at them. She has also been starting to smile a lot more. I do believe some of them are even for real and not just gas. She is starting to grasp onto our hands more and reaching for things. She will lie on her back in her little gym and kick at the toys hanging above her. We get such a kick out of watching her. Her hands and arms are still moving a mile a minute. Especially when the pacifier falls out. You would think it was the end of the world. Ha. Colleen Wedekind's parents were driving through Atlanta on their way to Ft. Myers so they stopped by to meet Gabby and take us out for dinner. It was so great to see someone from home.
Gabby even went to two Superbowl parties on Sunday. We are finding she is really good at this stage to take out as she seems to fall asleep in the car and seems to like her car seat still. I have also taken her walking twice this week. Once with her boyfriend, Mason, and then yesterday with her friend Maddie. She is getting the best part of the deal just enjoying the ride as I push her up and down all these big Georgia hills. We go tomorrow to get Gabby's hip x rayed. I am sure we won't have any information until we visit our doctor later this month.
My friend Valasco welcomed his third daughter on Monday, Feb. 4th. She weighed in at 8lbs 9ounces and was 20 inches long. They named her Toria Denise. Congrats!
We just learned that our friends, Josh and Jenny Chamberlin had their first baby boy yesterday. His name is Rossi Bilotti Chamberlin. He weighed in at 9lbs and 3 ounces. Both baby and Jenny are doing great. Congrats to you both.
